Ilana Shumsky

Dr. Lonnie Shumsky is an Internal Medicine physician who has spent her career as a clinician educator, first at the University of Utah and then at the University of Washington-Boise site. She has taught and mentored medical students and residents, developed curriculum, and was responsible for the creation of a multi-year board certification strategy for the UW residency program. In 2021, Dr. Shumsky became the co-leader for the vaccine acceptance task force at her hospital, and in 2023, she completed a two-year DCI fellowship at Stanford University.

Dr. Shumsky is a member of the Social Media Lab's Scaling Team. She advises on projects related to health misinformation, bringing her expertise as a medical doctor with extensive experience working directly with affected populations and medical professionals. As a senior advisor, she plays a key role in expanding the reach of projects to broader communities.
